I can well
remember serving my first full time church immediately after
graduating from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in
December of 1978. I thought what a privilege to actually get
paid for doing something I really love! That sentiment has
lasted through the years.
It is a
privilege to serve the Lord Jesus Christ at Moulton Baptist Church
as Minister of Music. I enjoy working with all age groups within
the church, but especially enjoy working with the Hallelujah
Choir. This is probably because I was at MBC when this group was
started on May 6th of 2003. The Hallelujah Choir
rehearses on Tuesday mornings and sings once a month at the
Nursing Home. The Hallelujah Choir is also the backbone for our
early Sunday morning worship service choir.
One of our
highest privileges as a Christian is to worship Christ privately
and corporately during worship services. I believe four things
should take place in an effective worship service: Adoration,
Humiliation, Purification, and Dedication. Isaiah 6:1-8 give us
the classic example of the worship experience. First, we must see
God, therefore we must be seeking God; second, after seeing God,
we see ourselves and say, “woe is me...”
Third, we
should get right with God, or have a 1 John 1:9 experience.
Fourth, our attitude should say, “Here am I, send me”. This is my
personal goal in every worship service, because you can’t take
people to some place where you have not been!
